Make Your Own Gluten-free Flour Blend

By Julie Van Rosendaal on October 01, 2013

I get a lot of questions about gluten-free baking, and in particular what type of flour to subsititute for the regular all-purpose wheat flour we so often default to in recipes. I always direct people to my friend Shauna, aka Gluten-free Girl, who knows her way around a gluten-free kitchen. She has been baking, playing and experimenting with gluten-free grains, starches and nut flours for years, and knows how things work. So I thought I'd share her video - not only because it's helpful to anyone learning how to bake without gluten, but because I want you to get to know her and her husband, Danny, and daughter Lucy.

I've been reading Shauna's blog for years - since around the time she and Danny met - and she's been a huge inspiration to me in more ways than one.

And here, in words, are her directions for how to make a gluten-free all purpose flour blend. She'll help you customize your own so you can still bake all your favourite things - without the gluten.

Happy baking!
