We love family-friendly San Francisco, here’s why

If you’re planning a family trip to San Francisco, you’re gonna want to keep reading. Because I found a gem of a hotel you’ll want to check out, I swear.

Here’s a big major tip when you’re heading to The Golden City: The best views and sights can be seen from Pier 39. You are directly across from Alcatraz, and you have beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Oakland-Bay bridge (you should see them light up at night!). You will also hear the calls of the sea lions that have made Pier 39 their home. They are super fun to watch, but a little hard on the nose. So stinky! The Pier is bustling with street performers, fantastic restaurants and great shopping. It’s also where you can catch a tour bus to get a quick lesson on SF’s rich history. The energy of the Pier is what drew our family to stay where the action was, so the Hotel Zephyr (250 Beach St, in the Fisherman’s Wharf area) was the perfect choice for our accommodations.

This colourful, lovely hotel was perfect for our brood. They had a huge outdoor area with games, bonfires and a place for us to unwind after a long day of touring. The décor at the Zephyr is unlike any other hotel we have ever stayed in, too. It is full of cartoon art and upcycled items, and it’s truly a feast for the eyes. You will know the minute you enter the lobby that you are in for an unforgettable experience.

We only had a few days in San Francisco and I already know that we’ll need to go back, stat. There is so much to see and do and we only just scratched the surface. China Town, Lombard Street, museums, theatres…there’s so much!

Our family has visited several destinations in California and I can honestly say that San Francisco stole our hearts. Cue the band…I left my heart, in San Francisco
