Food writer and cookbook author Emily Richards has a new title under her belt. Per la Famiglia: Memories and Recipes of Southern Italian Home Cooking (Whitecap) is a collection of recipes from her southern Italian family’s kitchen – dishes they’ve been making for generations for friends and relatives around the table.

You may recognize Emily as one of the trio from Food Network Canada’s Canadian Living Cooks. She’s one of Canada’s most skilled chefs and home economists, and an expert when it comes to Italian home cooking. For those of us who dream of marrying into a large Italian family just for the good cooking and extended Sunday meals, Emily allows us to adopt her traditions into our own homes, with approachable food made with familiar ingredients.
