Enjoy the best of both seasons north of Toronto

Spring family getaways - parents canada

It’s spring, with a little winter on the side, in areas north of Toronto and GTA. As I type this blog Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood is still boasting and an impressive 14 open runs. It will continue to be open seven days a week as long as Mother Nature permits. Hardwood Ski and Bike is also still offering groomed nordic trails. It’s truly a great time to enjoy the best of both seasons!

If fast skiing is not your pace, the snow is melting on the province’s beautiful hiking trails. If you’ve got little kids who like mud, well get out those rubber boots and take the kids to hog heaven! Pack a snack and drinks and see what’s happening in the woods and on the paved trails in small town communities. Ontario family attractions are also a good way to entertain the kids.

Maybe you’ve got the itch to get out of the house with the family for the weekend. We are currently working with our members on our spring getaways page. There are many great packages that include fun activities like horseback riding, fishing, biking and more.

Kids and family events for the weekend ahead, by area:

These events are within one to thre hours north of Toronto and are reasonable when considering a day trip.

Barrie

Family Art Workshop: (Sunday) A regional artist leads the whole family in creating hands-on collaborative art projects with a wide range of materials at the MacLaren Art Centre.

Youth Spring Coffee House: *For teens* It’s Marcie’s 16th birthday party and you’re invited! Attend in your best party attire and celebrate by enjoying music and spoken word performances by local Simcoe County youth, while enjoying a great cup of coffee or hot chocolate. This is an all-ages event, parents are welcome. Proceeds from this event go towards MacLaren’s ArtFuse Fund, an art class bursary programme.
