On September 7th, 2011, I welcomed my first child into the world. Eleanor arrived nine weeks early and is now a happy, healthy one-year-old, filled with personality. This means I am entering the toddler years…yikes! Starting solids, managing temper tantrums and (hopefully soon!) toilet training. Follow along as I enter into uncharted toddler territory.
Hello! I’m Carmen - the Director for Mommy Connections for Mississauga.
I'm a mother to a wonderful baby boy. Needless to say that having my first child has completely changed me. Connecting with other mothers in my neighborhood seemed to be more difficult than it should be and I realized that there is a void that needs to be filled in order for these connections to occur more naturally.
I really enjoy organizing all sorts of functions and group events, and with Mommy Connection’s pre/post natal and toddler programs, it helps bring mothers and entire families together to form a more tight knit community as we are all going through the same experiences and adventures. This not only benefits the mothers, families and children, but it greatly helps uplift the entire community.
I really look forward to getting to know the community of mothers in my area and providing Peel families with knowledge and resources that will help them raise their little bundles of joy!
Carol is a serial entrepreneur and has been that way for as long as she can remember. It started early on racing around grocery store parking lots and returning carts for $0.25, next it was a little hair braiding business on summer vacations with her family. Several other odd jobs along the way began her journey toward a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. After graduating from University, Carol returned to her hometown of Edmonton, Canada with her Texan husband and started her first business. Canadian Houses is a virtual tour and photography business working in the real estate sector. After running that business with her husband and working full time for the makers of COLD-fX as their Corporate Programs Manager, the McBee’s started a family and began with their daughter Madelyn at the end of 2008. In June 2010, Carol sold that first corporation to focus on her two new businesses; Mommy Connections Inc. & WECAN (a business network for entrepreneurial women)
When Carol isn’t busy connecting women, whether it be new moms or business owners, she loves pretending to be Martha Stewart. Cooking, baking, decorating and scrapbooking are among her favourite things. She is also a closet step aerobics fanatic and squeezes in as many classes as she can each week. While most people work to eat, Carol works to travel and is uber-frugal to ensure there is always a trip around the corner. Another secret – she re-uses ziplocks, HATES wasting food, frequents the bottle depot, folds tissue paper (& re-uses!) and mends socks (poorly, but she does it) She also NEVER dry cleans (unless it is absolutely mandatory and there is a coupon) and launders all of her husband’s shirts. The word is frugal, people, NOT cheap! Lastly, she is a sorority girl with a passion for cars and all things fast and does what she does for her precious daughter, Madelyn. Her most important lesson to her daughter is hard work and selflessness through philanthropy.

My name is Carrie and I'm the Program Director for Mommy Connections in the Halton Region, including the cities of Oakville, Burlington and Milton.
After living in Toronto for a number of years, I moved to Oakville in late 2011 with my husband and daughter. My little girl has quickly grown into a very active, energetic toddler and I love spending as much time with her as I can. Seeing her experience new things, learn new words and above all, laugh, reminds me just how quickly they grow up.
In addition to organizing Mom to Be, Mom & Baby and Mom & Toddler educational/activity speaker series through Mommy Connections, I also work in digital media and special events within the industrial real estate sector.
I look forward to connecting with new moms in the community and learning more about the many resources each city has to offer new families.
