Cold & Flu Season

Sick girl in bed - cold & flu seasonTesting, testing, 1-2-3!

Hello ParentsCanada readers! My name is Karen, and I’m thrilled to post the first Community Ambassador update!

As the Program Director for Mommy Connections West Toronto, and a mom to a busy 3 year old boy, I look forward to sharing with you all of the amazing resources our wonderful city has for families. I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on parenting, local events, and the occasional antics of my little one. I would love to hear from you as well!

Today marks the first day of fall, and with that comes cold and flu season. We were all set to start our first Fun With Music Class Together class this morning, but I decided to keep my snotty little man home for fear that the parents would judge me for bringing a sick child.

What are your guidelines for when your little one stays home, and when they go out despite a runny nose etc? I don’t typically let a little mucus stop us (or we’d be home all winter!) but Fun With Music Together has an amazing make-up class policy so I decided to take advantage of it. How about you? When do you decide to keep your we one home if they aren’t feeling well?

Wondering what Mommy Connections is all about?

Mommy Connections introduces moms to programs and services available within their community. Our classes provide a unique learning opportunity as well as a fun way to bond with her child and other moms in a social environment. Each week’s class features a discussion lead by a local parenting expert followed by a fun activity for mom and baby. This allows for a unique bonding opportunity with her little one while still fulfilling her need to obtain information and be social with other moms experiencing the same challenges, fears and excitement. There are door prizes every week, and each mom also receives a swag bag full of samples and coupons from local businesses.

We also offer Mom To Be classes featuring leading experts who prepare and inform the pre-natal mom for pregnancy, delivery and beyond. Our new Mom & Tot program offers a place for both moms and toddlers to play, learn and develop. With 22 chapters across North America, Mommy Connections provides educational and social connections for the modern family before baby and beyond!
