Best place to recover from a Winnipeg winter

Manitoba has more than 110,000 lakes. Paul and Patricia Infuso and their eight-year-old son Owen, like many Manitobans, head for cottage country or, more specifically, to Victoria Beach where they own a seasonal spot. Located about 100 kilometres north of Winnipeg, its off-season population of 600 swells to 16,000 in the summer. What makes Victoria Beach so great? Says Paul: “It has nice white sand, southerly exposure, and a gradual slope so the kids have lots of room to play with no steep drop-off into deep water. There are no boats or nearby cars to worry about. Ice cream is but a short walk away, and there’s plenty of room on the beach to play Frisbee or throw a ball in the water. The entire area is so safe you can drop your bike and nobody will take it.”
