Orlando Jones talks about sharing his Southern roots with family

Orlando Jones was living in Los Angeles when he got the call to play Captain Frank Irving in Sleepy Hollow (Mondays, 9 p.m. on Global). The popular TV series about a town haunted by a headless horseman films in North Carolina. It was a bit of a homecoming for the Southern U.S.- born and bred actor, and he was excited to share the relaxed Southern lifestyle with his wife and daughter who relocated with him.

“I can’t imagine not seeing my ladies everyday. I have a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter and, as far as she’s concerned, she’s in charge. She told me yesterday that I was not the boss of her, which I was not expecting to hear. She also hit me in the face with a piece of pineapple. Then she told me, ‘Pick it up daddy!’ To which I said ‘Do you want to climb out of that high chair and say that to my face?’

“Here in Wilmington, N.C., there is no traffic. I’m really enjoying that part of it. It’s been great for our daughter to experience an entirely different way of life. For me, it’s been a big change to be back in the South, but it’s been really good for the family and I think we’ll be here for awhile, until you guys can’t handle us anymore and they cancel Sleepy Hollow!”
