Whether you're planning a family road trip or a weekend staycation, check out our list of things to do in Canada's capital cities.

Favourite indoor activity: Kingswood Entertainment Centre has 30 lanes of candlepin bowling, an indoor playground with a 21-foot high play climber, a toddler play space, gymnastics facility and even an indoor skating rink open year round.

Favourite outdoor activity: Bucket Club Activity Park at Hartt Island RV Resort has a waterpark, mini golf, bike and walking trails, and canoe and kayak rentals. You can also take a riverboat island tour. Best-kept secret: Go for a frog walk at Hyla Park Nature Preserve, the first Canadian amphibian park. Hyla Park has six species of frogs, three species of salamander, and other rare flora and fauna. Ask about free guided tours.

Great place to eat: Their website claims that “Nothing can be finer than the Sunshine Diner…” Enjoy homestyle cooking at this old-fashioned diner – soups are made from scratch, and fries are made with NB potatoes.

Great place to stay: The Best Western Plus Fredericton Hotel & Suites offers friendly service, an indoor pool and hot tub, allows pets and is close to a mall and movie theatre.

Worth the drive: The Irving Nature Park on the coast of the Bay of Fundy has long stretches of sandy beaches, volcanic rock, forest, salt marshes and 20 kilometres of well-marked trails.
