The queen of tween lit’s fourth adult novel is set in Elizabeth, N.J., in the early ’50s, when three planes really crashed in the span of 58 days. True to form, Blume’s main character is a teenage girl, but the story is told through several narrators as these tragedies unfold.

If you liked… Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird check out her sequel Go Set a Watchman. The newly discovered manuscript was actually written before the Pulitzer-prize winner, but is set 20 years later when Jean Louise – Scout – returns to Maycomb, Ala., to visit Atticus and make sense of the town and society that shaped her. If you liked…Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl check out Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on a Train. This psychological thriller and book club fave is filled with not-so-nice characters and plenty of suspense.
