Great Scott! Marty McFly is back, this time in a picture book. Introduce your kids to Marty, who travels to the 1950s (with mad scientist Doc in tow) and meets his teenaged parents. Fans of the flick will get a kick out of the adorable illustrations (Doc’s so cute!). Ages 4 to 8 $20

THE CARDBOARD KINGDOM

This colourful graphic novel follows a group of kids who transform cardboard boxes into cool costumes, and their neighbourhood into a cardboard kingdom while on summer vacation. The importance of imagination and friendship are celebrated in this fun story. Ages 8 to 12. $28

THE STRONGEST MUM

Little Bear’s mum is strong—she can carry everything from her cub’s bike to Flamingo’s piano. Eventually Little Bear realizes that even mums get tired and need a hand. This is a special story about helping each other and the sweet relationship between parent and child. Ages 3 to 5. $14

THE GIRL'S GUIDE TO GROWING UP GREAT

It’s all about thriving during those sometimes trying tween and teen years and covers everything girls need to know about puberty, feelings, cyberbullying, relationships with friends and even sex (but don’t worry—it’s very age appropriate). Ages 10+. $24

HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

Remember I Don’t Know How She Does It? This is the sequel to Kate Reddy’s story, dubbed “the national anthem for working mothers.” It’s seven years later and Kate is staring down 50. Her kids are teens, her parents are aging, her husband is having a midlife crisis and she’s anxious to get back to the workplace. Hilarity ensues. $25

THE HOME FOR UNWANTED GIRLS

Prepare for love, secrets and deceit in 1950s Quebec. Maggie, who’s English-speaking, falls for poor, French-speaking Gabriel, the boy on the neighbouring farm. She gets pregnant at 15 and her parents force her to give Elodie up for adoption. Maggie later decides she must find the baby she gave away. The search begins. $21

ONE DAY YOU'LL THANK ME: LESSONS FROM AN UNEXPECTED FATHERHOOD

Author David McGlynn became a father faster than he anticipated—he says his sons were “conceived in quick succession.” Terrified of becoming a dad, he ultimately grew into his position, and found super funny “life lessons” along the way. A great pick for Father’s Day. $36
