BEST IN BRONZER
Bronzing powders are the easiest, most flattering products to apply year round. Most have fl ecks of gold to add radiance to your complexion. Jacquie Hutchinson, national product trainer for Revlon, proposes four steps to great colour: exfoliation, moisture, sheer tinted lotion and bronzing powder.
For Halle Berrys tawny glow, Revlons limited edition Golden Affair Sculpting Blush in Naughty or Spice does the honours; Rose Rapture is right for Eva Mendes. Neutral pinks work for fairer skin, Hutchinson says.
ALSO: Cliniques Shimmering Tones bronzer, a checkerboard of shades available in four palettes, is so sheer that its hard to mess up. Or try a luxurious powder tinged with gold from Guerlains Terracotta collection. We love the Sun Elixir in Ultimate Gold for a quick pink-gold fi nish to your skin and for the exotic packaging. If you go for a tinted lotion, like Revlons Bare it All Lustrous Lotion or Cliniques Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator, you have the option of smoothing it on legs, arms or decollet, mixed with your favourite body balm, for a touch of evening glimmer.
LIP ACTION: To complete your summer glow, you want glossy, moisturized lips, Hutchinson says. From Revlons SuperLustrous Shiny Sheers lip glosses, theres Peachy Sheen or Coco Glaze for Halle Berry; Honey Drizzle or Plum Drop for Eva Mendes. Almays Hydra Colour lip colours have soft shine and sun protection in nude or subtle pink. Play the eyeshadows soft and sheer. When you have a natural colour, or natural radiance, you look better, you feel better and you look younger, too.
FAKE AND FABULOUS
Theres been nothing less than a revolution in self-tanning products
in recent years. Goodbye orange, streaky skin. Hello to easy bronzing. Thats because the new self-tanners offer moisturizing action as you gradually build up to your desired colour. Chances of embarrassing streaks are minimized with the low concentrations of the active ingredient, Dihydroxyacetone or DHA, says Dr. Kucy Pon, a Toronto dermatologist and consultant for Olay products. DHA, a simple sugar molecule that interacts with the top layer of the skin, is completely safe, according to Pon.
We asked Antoinette Ritondo, national training manager for Lancme, how to apply self-tanners to get the gorgeous glow of Canadian supermodel Daria Werbowy.
EXFOLIATE: Flaky or dry skin will result in streaks. You can exfoliate in the shower two or three times weekly with a sponge or a delicious gel like Body Dlisse, says Ritondo. For the face, theres Almays Tan Prep Exfoliator.
MOISTURIZE: Most of the gradual self-tanners on the market do double duty as moisturizers. Try Lancmes Glow Sensuelle, Este Lauders Golden Naturally Radiant Moisturizer, Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer with fi rming action or, from Olays Touch of Sun lotions, the day or night formulations. Apply daily until you get the colour you like then take a rest for several days. For quicker results, Ritondo likes Lancmes Flash Bronzer leg gel, a texture that smooths on easily and has a powdery finish. For the face: The Flash Bronzer for face is tinted so you see exactly where youre applying the lotion.
FINISHING TOUCH: Try a shimmering oil like Clarins Spray After Sun Shimmer for glorious glow. PC
