Capture your newborn’s innocence with newborn photographs

There are few things in life as incredible as having a baby. Whether it be your first or your fifth, the new life you bring into the world is a magical experience for your entire family. Every new mom hears over and over how quickly her little one will grow. As parents, it’s easy to get caught up in the early morning feedings and endless diaper changes and take for granted the short time that our babies are newborns.

When my husband and I welcomed our second son, we knew that we wanted to be able to look back on this stage in his life (once the fatigue wears off!) and so we went on the search for a photographer who could capture the purity and innocence of our new baby boy. After reviewing several local photographers, we decided on Pink Star Photography, a small business located in Edmonton.

From the very first time that we were in contact with owner Tara Wildgoose, we felt confident that we had found what we were looking for. Tara was extremely flexible when scheduling our appointment and informed us that she always books extra time for newborn sessions since they can be so unpredictable. We knew we wouldn’t be rushed and after looking through her portfolio, it was clear that she would be able to deliver beautiful photographs.

When we arrived at her home studio, we were greeted by Tara and her son, and shown to the basement studio. The studio was filled with props and the walls were covered in photographs of Tara’s work. Space was quite limited in the studio and Tara mentioned she’s currently looking to lease a studio to accommodate all of her equipment. With our active toddler in tow, the space could have been a concern, but Tara’s son was able to keep our tot happy for the majority of the session.

The session consisted of three different newborn poses, shots of our two boys together, as well as a family photograph. Tara was extremely gentle and calm with our newborn and spent extra time rocking him to sleep prior to beginning the shoot. Her patience was undeniable and attention to detail in her work was evident in everything from the way she lay out her props to the outfits she put on our newborn.

Within the week, Tara sent me the edited digital photos to review. We were thrilled with her quick turnaround since we had heard horror stories of people waiting weeks, sometimes months, for their photographs. Certainly not the case here. Once we chose the files that we wanted, Tara had them to us that same day. She also provided us with an app for iPhone/Android with our photographs attached.

Our overall experience with Pink Star Photography was extremely positive. The only suggestion I will make, is that if you are looking at doing a session with a larger group/family, it would be best to do an outdoor session, at least until Tara has found a larger studio location. I would highly recommend Tara to anyone looking for a photographer with a keen sense to detail or anyone with children. She was great with both of our sons and we will definitely do another session in the future with her.
