Whether you're planning a family road trip or a weekend staycation, check out our list of things to do in Canada's capital cities.

Favourite indoor activity: Cows Creamery offers behind the scene tours showing how their ice cream and cheese are produced.

Favourite outdoor activity: Harbour Hippo tour is an amphibious vehicle that takes visitors for a 30-minute drive on city streets and then dips into the harbour for 25 minutes.

Best-kept secret: Eckhart in the City is a free hunt, in which kids follow the clues to nine bronze statues around the city of mice from the beloved book series.

Great place to eat: Water-Prince Corner Shop has great seafood. Or try Boom Burger, the burger joint next to the Cows Ice Cream Factory.

Great place to stay: The Rodd Royalty has a great glass-enclosed swimming pool, with a 105-foot waterslide. Ask for a pool-facing room.

Worth the drive: Cavendish is a summer tourist hot spot with great beaches and outdoor parks and mini golf. Don’t miss Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium, the World of Wax of the Stars and Shining Waters Family Fun Park.;
