For young Star Wars fans a visit north of Toronto can be imagined as a visit to the planet Hoth! Mid week temps are dipping lower then -30 bringing chances of frostnip or frostbite. But we’re Canadian, this is nothin’. Just dress in warm layers, cover every part you can and watch for signs that it might be time to head back inside!
Speaking of Canadian….did you know this weekend was the beginning of Canada’s Pond Hockey Tournament? 32 outdoor rinks on the surface of Head Lake in the Haliburton Highlands. Once the games are done on the pond Saturday evening head to the annual Pond Party at Pinestone Resort in Haliburton – it is the most winter fun you can have in 3 days! Hardwood is a full service nordic ski centre providing trails for all levels of skiers or snowshoers. They are open seven days a week and offer rentals, retail nordic ski, lessons, cafe and children’s programs.
MACLAREN ART CENTRE
Enrich your childrens’ days with art. Every child has the potential and needs the inspiration! Kids are never too young to learn art appreciation and be inspired themselves.
SUNDAY * Family Art Workshop! Regional artist Annie Aspden and guest artists will lead creative projects that families can complete together. Sign up in person at 1:00 pm on the day of the workshop, as space is limited.

SATURDAY * Guided Night Snowshoe Hikes at Scenic Caves Nature Adventures * (6pm-8pm). Strap on your snowshoes for a night-time hike, where stars and shadows create a dramatic setting for adventure.
