If your new year involves more healthy snacks and less waste, here’s a great way to cook popcorn in the microwave – without buying bags of overly packaged, seasoned microwave popcorn. You won’t believe how easy it is – just using a plain paper lunch bag.

Simply pour about 1/3 cup unpopped corn into a brown paper bag, add 1 tsp. canola or other vegetable oil and toss it about to coat.

Fold the top of the bag over twice – this is enough to keep it closed as it pops. (If you like, add a small piece of tape, but it’s not necessary.) Place in the microwave and cook for 2 1/2-3 minutes, just like store-bought microwave popcorn, until the popping slows.

Open carefully and voila – fresh, hot popcorn with no harmful chemicals or clean-up!
