The delicious fruit you know and love makes a great addition to smoothies, cereal and baking (can we talk about how good banana bread is?). Bananas contain high levels of tryptophan and vitamin B6, which together produce serotonin and make the brain happy. They can also help protect against muscle cramps during workouts, keep you energized, improve your mood and reduce PMS symptoms. Bananas are rich in pectin, high in fibre and are a natural antacid. Trying to quit smoking? Have a banana. They also contain potassium, magnesium and high levels of B-vitamins, which can help speed up recovery from the effects of withdrawal.
