Patti Mallette, a.k.a. Justin Bieber’s mom, has come a long way from her struggles as a teen mom.
These days she has a Twitter following with over two million and a New York Times best seller book to her credit, along with being the mother to one of the world’s biggest celebrities. Patti opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her book and how she overcame painful circumstances in her childhood and teen years. She also shared how she lived in government housing, worked two to three jobs to try to put food on the table and nurtured Justin‘s talents to become the sensation he is today.
Patti’s book, Nowhere But Up, is her life story. “When I was younger, people told me their stories about how they overcame difficult circumstances. This gave me the hope to get through and I hope my book does the same for other people,” she says.
“A lot of people think my life has always been great because I’m Justin Bieber‘s mom. What many people don’t know is that I had to overcome a lot of painful things in my childhood and teen years. I wanted to share my story and healing journey to help inspire other people.”
She says she did what she cold to ensure Justin could play the sports he was interested in and had musical instruments at home.
Does she have any advice for other parents with children entering showbiz/the music industry? Patti said, “I didn’t seek out the entertainment industry for my son, so I’m probably not the best person to ask for advice! He uploaded his videos from a local singing competition to YouTube and it went viral from there.”
