4 thick slices white or French bread
1/2 cup spreadable cream cheese
2 tbsp strawberry jam
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp butter or margarine
1 tsp icing sugar
1. Stir together cream cheese and jam until blended.
2. Spread mixture onto one slice of bread. Top with second slice.
3. In a shallow bowl large enough to dip bread, whisk eggs, milk and vanilla.
4. Dip stuffed ‘sandwich’ in egg mixture to coat both sides. In a large frying pan, melt butter over medium heat. Place bread in pan and cook until golden brown on both sides (1 to 2 minutes per side). Serve dusted with icing sugar (or drizzled with maple syrup).
